"Saudi Arabia Suspends Visas for 14 Countries Ahead of Hajj 2025"

Saudi Arabia has temporarily halted issuing Umrah, business, and family visit visas to nationals of 14 nations, including India, in anticipation of the impending Hajj pilgrimage. The purpose of this measure is to control crowding and guarantee pilgrims' safety throughout the Hajj season.

Affected Nations:

India

Pakistan

Bangladesh

Egypt

Indonesia

Iraq

Nigeria

Jordan

Algeria

Sudan

Ethiopia

Tunisia

Yemen

Morocco

The suspension takes effect right away and will last until the end of the Hajj pilgrimage in mid-June 2025. The main goal is to stop unregistered people from trying to do the Hajj, which has caused crowding and safety problems in the past.

This ruling comes after events during the 2024 Hajj in which over 1,000 undocumented pilgrims perished from overcrowding and intense heat. The fact that many of these people had come with visas not meant for the Hajj emphasizes the necessity of more stringent regulations.

Note that this suspension does not apply to diplomatic or Hajj-specific visas. Only those with valid Hajj permits will be permitted entry into Makkah during the pilgrimage period, the Saudi authorities have stressed.

Saudi authorities have stepped up their efforts to stop illegal Hajj participation in addition to suspending visas. More than 18,000 people were recently arrested for breaking labor, border security, and residency laws. Penalties for violators could include up to 15 years in prison.

To guarantee a secure and well-organized Hajj experience, prospective pilgrims from the impacted nations are urged to strictly follow official procedures and secure the necessary visas.
